This massive, racy red with pedigree from Hvar strongly expresses the characteristics, authenticity and originality of Plavac mali. Because of this Plavac barrique, Carić can undoubtedly be considered one of the most important producers of Plavac mali in Croatia.
It has a full, luminous ruby color that turns into garnet towards the rims. Aromas are clean and very precise. It opens with vanilla notes, burnt wood, dried herbs and mild notes of roasted almonds. Sensations of plums, black currants, wild blackberries and sour cherries seems harmoniously blended with the oak frame that can be felt, but without overwhelming this fruity composition. Finish is full, round, dry, dense and very complex taste reveals hints of herbs and minerals. The tannins are soft and elegant.
Food pairing: red meat, venison, sausages, smoked ham, firm cheeses.
