This wine is born in the best wine growing area of the Buje region called Contarini-Brazzania where a low yield per hectare allows for the production of extraordinary wines. The vineyards are laid out in an amphitheatre fashion, helping them to ideally utilize the local climate and the mineral-rich white soil.

Alcohol fermentation begins at temperatures ranging from 25 to 28°C for a duration of 15 to 20 days. The malolactic fermentation and the maturation period take place over 18 months in small oak casks which help pair the rich and noble aromas of wood and grape. What follows next is the blending and the ageing of wine in a big wooden barrel over the span of a year, finishing with an additional 6 months spent in a bottle where the wine is further matured and balanced.

Dark ruby in colour. Nose is primarily herbal, mineral, spicy, comparable to green pepper, spice herbs, gunpowder, carob, followed by notes of dried red berries and finishing with burst of sour cherry. On the palate is soft, warm, tasty, smooth with delicate and well-rounded tannins and a typical peppery finish.

Food pairing: Duck breast, saltimbocca, pork medallions in green pepper sauce, vegetables and meat with spicy herbs, rabbit with sage.

As one of the pioneers of Istrian revolution in winemaking, Moreno Degrassi stand out with his blends, both white and red. Besides these fine blends, he is also focused in indugenous grapes like Malvasia Istriana and Teran. He started in 1996 and today having a total production around 130.000 bottles.

Degrassi sources the grapes from 4 different locations, coming from two differen terroirs (Terre Bianche - white soil, and Terre Rosse - red soil). Truly unique wines which are made to underpin the Terroir of his vineyards.

His white and red blends from Terre bianche are very distinguished wines.
